What to do with those "not so good pictures"

So, I'm putting a 7x7 scrapbook together of our kids. It's Christmas pictures a photographer friend of mine took of them in '06.
My title page of the album reads:
"Christmas Pictures 2006
Aaron and Bethany
This album is a prime example of how very hard it is to get great pics of small children. Aaron was crying one minute and giggling the next. Bethany wanted to make funny faces for every shot. I look back on these and laugh but at the time I wanted to cry. I had planned on sending Christmas cards with a picture inside. Oh well, I got some very silly shots of both of the kids. I had to scrap these pics...for the memories."

As you know from reading my prfile our son has Autism. You never know what kind of day he will have when he gets up in the mornings. We work with him as best we can but sometimes it's just not a good day and we have to deal with it. The day we had these pics made was one of those days but we had the appointment and really wanted some Christmas pics of them.

So, this is the best picture she got. Aaron's eyes are red and teary and Bethany is holding her dress up and not smiling. What can you do? It was just a bad day for both of them. We shouldn't have tried it. I've learned from my mistakes. Now that they're older it is easier to get "big smile" pictures. I couldn't, not, save this set of pictures. I'll have a small album of just these pictures to look back on and laugh.

Ribbons and buttons are my two most favorite embellishments. I think the buttons bordering the pic look nice. I added a few rhinestones in and around the buttons also to give it a classy look.
Thanks for stopping by.

Until next time...

Crafty Critters Challenge #10

I got my challenge card done!
My blog group on SCS had a challenge. Here's the requirements:

1. Use card sketch #246 from SCS.
2. Use the color purple.
3. Make it Fall themed.
4. Use at least 1 embellishment.

This card is 6.25 x 3.5 -- it fits in a regular size mailing envelope (not the long one).
I used SU! Only Orange c/s as my base. The striped paper and green patterned paper are from the DCWV Fall stack. The purple strip is SU! Rich Razzleberry c/s and I used the ticket punch on 2 corners (This matching well in real life. It seems too dark in the pic). Then I used my new little stamp from SU!. He's stamped with Basic black ink. Isn't he the cutest? I backed it with 2 more circles and put it on with dimentionals. I used clear buttons from SU! with coordinating thread in them. I used a piece of black toile fabric and bunched it up behind the image. Then while the glue on the fabric was still wet, I dotted the ghost's eyes and mouth with the 2 way glue pen and sprinkled dazzling diamonds on the fabric and the ghost. His eyes and mouth look white in the pic but they're really sparkly.
I'll be making goody bags for my son and daughter's classmates using this cute little stamp too. I'll be sure and post them when I get them done.
Until next time...
Blessings...

Christmas Cards

Hey Everybody!

I hope you're having a great day. Thanks so much for stopping by. Be sure and leave a comment and let me know what you think.

I'm having a SU! Christmas card workshop tonight. These are the 2 cards everyone will be making. They will make 5 of each design. This first one I used our Dasher stamp.

The base is Very Vanilla c/s, then a piece of real red over that. I used the Merry Moments paper pack for the snow flake rectangle and green strips. I stamped Dasher with Chocolate chip ink and chalked real red around the edges. I placed the stamped image on with pop dots (dimensionals)The chalk gives a softer look compared to inking the edges. I used the glue pen and dotted around on the antlers then used Dazzling Diamonds glitter. I finished the card with some rhinestones. The inside I stamped Merry Christmas in Real Red ink.

For the next card I used the tree from our Snow Swirled stamped set.

I again used Very Vanilla as my card base then placed a piece of Old Olive c/s over that. I punchd out circle with Real Red c/s then a scalloped cirlce with the same color. I tore a piece of Very Vanilla c/s then placed another piece from the Merry Moments paper pack over that. I stamped Merry Christmas in Real Red ink. I stamped the tree on Very Vanilla c/s then cut it out and used our Real Red maker the dot the centers of the snow flakes. The tree is on with pop dots (dimensionals). I finished the card with some brads and stamped a Christmas sentiment in Real Red inside.

I love the look of the Old Olive c/s and Real Red c/s together. You've got to get some of our Merry Moments paper too. This is just a few samples of the designs in that pack. They are gorgeous. I can't wait to use some of it in my scrapbooks.

This is my first Christmas Card Workshop to do. I hope the ladies like these cards.
Oh yeah, for any of you following my computer troubles, I'm still updating at mom's. She says it's fine with her when we walk through the door b/c she gets to see the kiddos while I'm "blogging". : )
Have a great evening everyone!

Until next time...

Updating at my mom's....ugh

Well, my computer is still acting up so I'm at my mom's updating today. The phrase, "Don't know what you've got 'til it's gone." is soooo true. She only lives 9 miles from me but...ugh, I like sitting in my pj's playing on the computer. hee! hee!
Here's a page I did to go in my Disney Vacation Album. The title is from a Disney LOTW swap I hosted on SCS a few weeks ago. Aren't the letters great? Those ladies did a fabulous job!

My niece and daughter are in the stroller. My daughter was terrified of that Princess! I couldn't believe it. She loves Princesses and talks about them all the time. But, when she came up to her to talk she started bawling! That will be something good to pull out when she's 17 and bringing home a boyfriend. We'll get to tell him she's scared of princesses!!! hee! hee!
We still got to be part of the parade though. That was a wonderful experience.
I hope to get another post in next week. We're out of school Monday and Tuesday for Fall Break! Yippee!!!!! NO ALARM CLOCKS!!!! Woooo Whooooo :0)
Until next time...

I AM SO FRUSTRATED!!!

Hello everyone...sorry I've not posted in a while.
My computer is acting up. I have an ACER notebook that has a SD card reader on it.
I've always been able to plug in my card and upload pics. Last week I got an error message. I emailed ACER support and they said I needed to download a new reader? I did what they told me too and it still doesn't work it keeps giving me the same error message.
Today I wanted to play along with the challenges on SCS for World Card Making Day. I've made my first card and got out my USB cable to upload the pics to my computer. WOW! SHOCKER! it's giving me the exact same error as my card reader is!!!!!!
I'm so frustrated! Anyone out there is syber space have a suggestion for me? My notebook is registered and still under warranty. I'm not that computer savvy and never had to deal with problems like this so I'm lost.

I always said I didn't want to post to my blogs without pics but I have no choice at this point. Sorry ladies...
I'm still going to play along with the challenges and hope to get some answers and my computer fixed soon so I can show you my cards.

Until next time...
Blessings...

8x8 Scrapbook pages

YAY!!!! I'm finally finished with a swap I joined on SCS. It has taken awhile. We signed up for a month we wanted to create and then had to make a double layout spread x 13!!! I'm going to love getting these back and having every month of the year in 8x8 size, but making them has been very time consuming.

Sorry about the quality of this pic. I dropped my camera I use all the time and now the screen is not working. Everything else works but you can't see what you're taking a pic of and there is no view finder! So, I took this pic with our video camera. It has "still" mode and this is the quality...YUCK! Well, supper is in the oven I need to go get it out. Then, I start working on a monthly border swap I do with my mom and 2 of our friends. We meet every last Friday night of the month and swap border sets, crop and eat chocolate!!!! Mmmmmm :)

Until next time...

I love the new SU! In Colors :)

So....I finally finished those recipe cards I was talking about last week. I decided to go with the new SU! In Colors. I think the Melon Mambo goes really good with the recipe, "Strawberries and Cream Trifle".

This is a 6"x6" recipe card. I used Melon Mambo c/s as my base. I used a 3" strip of Razzleberry Lemonade Designer Series Paper. I added a piece of Melon Mambo polka dot ribbon at the bottom of the DSP. Then I punched Melon Mambo c/s with my scallop circle punch. I punched 2 pieces of the DSP with my circle punches and finished it off with a white square brad. I love how it turned out. The colors go so well with each other. Now to get them in the mail to my SCS hostess. This swap is due the 30th!
On another note...anyone who loves Southern Gospel Music knows the place to go to hear the best groups in the industry is the National Quartet Convention in Louisville, KY. My hubby and I just got back and what an experience. We took my sister and her husband who had never gone and they were wowed! Other than watching groups on stage at Freedom Hall back to back to back to.....(well you get what I'm saying), you can also go to the expo wing and every group/artist has a table set up. Believe me you are star struck when you walk through and see your favorite artists behind their tables greeting you, signing autographs and posing for pictures. They were all so friendly. One of the artists had just had a kidney transplant 3 weeks earlier (his wife whom also sings in the group donated hers to him) he performed on stage along with his wife and then both were present afterward at their table greeting fans. He wore a mask and gloves to protect him from germs but he said he wouldn't miss it for the world. That is dedication and caring my friend. I love Southern Gospel Music and I love the singers who put their heart into their "work". They sing to uplift our Lord and Saviour! What a testimony. I can't wait to go back next year!
Until next time...
Blessings...
