Dueling Darlings ~ Plains, Trains and Automobiles

Yes! It's that time again!!!! It's Dueling time. Bring it on!

Little Ms. Debbie is the Dazzler's hostess this month and I adore the kits she sent!
Yes! I said "kits"! She sent two. It was hard to choose but this is what I created...

I embossed the the rust card stock she sent with my SU! square lattice folder. Then, distressed and inked it.
The K & Company paper is adorable! I distressed, inked and sanded that.
The little Kraftin Kimmie airplane stamped image was colored with copics then cut out and mounted atop a Natural white SU! piece of punched card stock. That's what my card base is also. I followed that with a matching piece at the bottom for my sentiment (using SU! Petite Pairs).
My favorite part of this card is my button "treatment". :) I used a MFT hot fudge button, cut a piece of the green ribbon and linen thread Debbie sent and made, what I think is a cute accent.

Thank you Debbie!

Debbie and Carol (the hostess for the Divas, our dueling team) asked us to share a memory of getting to our favorite holiday. An adventure you might say.

Well, the one that popped into my mind immediately when I saw this was a few years ago when North Alabama experienced a large amount of snow on Christmas Eve and Day. There were lots of roads closed and iced over. In my mind, we were going to have a relaxed Christmas at home and visit family at a later date. My husband however had other plans. He said "I've never not been at my Mom's at Christmas and this snow and ice is not going to keep me from doing so this year!" He was on a mission! So, we bundled the kiddos up, loaded them and the presents in the car and headed out. A trip that usually takes us 50 minutes, took us over 2 hours! We have to cross a very long, 4 lane bridge on the way that is quite elevated. It was super scary to say the least. Of course we made it and had a wonderful time with family, but I will never forget the "adventure" we had to take to do so.

Until next time...
Blessings...

Hi Melina!
I'm so excited to be joining you ladies in the Dueling Darlings!! Thank you for the warm welcome. :) Your card is fantastic! I love all the distressing and what a great idea to crumple and sand the DP. I love the vintage look to your card! Also adore how you've done the button and the ribbon--might have to "borrow" that idea!! :) HUGS

WOW! Just look at all that texture! The end result is stunning! I love you innovative embellishment with the ribbon, twine and button. And the circles behind the airplane and for your sentiment are nice touches.
Yikes, what a scary trip that must have been! My SIL lives in northern AL and I remember the Christmas you're talking about, it really knocked them for a loop!

Melina, your card is FABULOUS! I do love the embellishment you made... I also love the way you distressed the papers and embossed, too... and I love the white piece behind the plane to make it really stand out! AMAZING!

Loved reading your story... and had to laugh at how you and your DH had different ideas of what to do in the Christmas storm. Glad you made it safely and can tell about it!

Melina I love how you distressed the look of this card. I should have thought of that? It's great with this dp and image. Really like what you did with the linen thread, ribbon and button. You are clever.
