Hello everyone!
This is my second post of the day.
To see my RED CARPET STUDIOS post, scroll on down.
Today is the 15th and it's the day I "duel" with some of my friends from Split Coast Stampers.
We are the Dueling Darlings. There are 2 teams, the Divas and the Dazzlers. I'm a Dazzler! You can find the blog list for this wonderful group of ladies in my left sidebar.
This month Katie, from the Divas and April from the Dazzlers wanted us to show our heritage. Well, I've never done much studying on my genealogy (probably scared to find out what some of my ancestors were like! LOL). I really should though. I love watching the television show "Who Do You Think You Are?". I've been told that I have some Irish blood in me and I know that my grandmother (my Mother's mother) was part Indian, Cherokee I believe. Now, what percentage of Indian she was, I'm not sure but in her younger days she had black, silky hair. She was also short in stature and had a flaming temper. :) Ha Ha! So, I know she had a lot of Indian in her. LOL
I decided to show pride in my Indian Heritage with my project:
I used red, white and blue along with black so I could use the pretty ribbons and pearls that April sent along with her cute CTMH images.
Here's a close up of "mini me". WOW! Do I ever wish my legs and hips were that small! And yes, if I didn't color my hair.....I believe this would be my color! *giggle*
I colored the image with Spectrum Noir markers and used a Zig, Wink of Pearl marker around the edges.
I wanted to make her dress look Native American. I don't know if I succeeded, but I like the outcome.
Thanks for stopping by!
I can't wait to see what my other Dueling Sisters made. :)
Until next time...
Blessings...
Melina

Cute!!! I really like the Native American theme and yes, I can see the resemblance on her dress, great job coloring!
Love all the extra touches that you included Melina. Nice job this round, as usual!
Such a fun card, Melina! Love the feathers as a nod to your Cherokee heritage. And I love the title of your post--Did my ancestors duel? LOL! I'm thinking of card dueling, of course, and not real battle. :)
Hope you have a great week! Kadie
Melina--what a sweet card. I love the image and the layout is perfect for the challenge this month!
Melina, this is DARLING! Your coloring of the image and the additional feathers, etc are just perfect to reflect your Native American heritage. Perfect!
Wow! What a gorgeous card, Melina! Love that you chose to highlight your Indian heritage. The color scheme of red, white and blue with those touches of black, created the perfect background for your darling image representing you!! Love your red feathers and love the x and - bordering the image panel!!
I am so giggling that if your legs really looked like hers.....total sticks! ;)
Very cute card. I love the colors and how you tied your heritage into the card.
Just call me Johnny Come Lately in the commenting! Yikes! But none-the-less a most fabulous card to behold! WOW, what a wonderful way to showcase your heritage - the indian feathers are a perfect touch! I heard they are 'all the rage' right now in decorating and crafting so this is just splendid in every way!
Super thrilled that you are part of the Dueling Darlings! Muah! xoxo
Great card! Love how you colored the image Melina!
