8x8 Scrapbook pages

YAY!!!! I'm finally finished with a swap I joined on SCS. It has taken awhile. We signed up for a month we wanted to create and then had to make a double layout spread x 13!!! I'm going to love getting these back and having every month of the year in 8x8 size, but making them has been very time consuming.

Sorry about the quality of this pic. I dropped my camera I use all the time and now the screen is not working. Everything else works but you can't see what you're taking a pic of and there is no view finder! So, I took this pic with our video camera. It has "still" mode and this is the quality...YUCK! Well, supper is in the oven I need to go get it out. Then, I start working on a monthly border swap I do with my mom and 2 of our friends. We meet every last Friday night of the month and swap border sets, crop and eat chocolate!!!! Mmmmmm :)

I love the new SU! In Colors :)

So....I finally finished those recipe cards I was talking about last week. I decided to go with the new SU! In Colors. I think the Melon Mambo goes really good with the recipe, "Strawberries and Cream Trifle".

This is a 6"x6" recipe card. I used Melon Mambo c/s as my base. I used a 3" strip of Razzleberry Lemonade Designer Series Paper. I added a piece of Melon Mambo polka dot ribbon at the bottom of the DSP. Then I punched Melon Mambo c/s with my scallop circle punch. I punched 2 pieces of the DSP with my circle punches and finished it off with a white square brad. I love how it turned out. The colors go so well with each other. Now to get them in the mail to my SCS hostess. This swap is due the 30th!

On another note...anyone who loves Southern Gospel Music knows the place to go to hear the best groups in the industry is the National Quartet Convention in Louisville, KY. My hubby and I just got back and what an experience. We took my sister and her husband who had never gone and they were wowed! Other than watching groups on stage at Freedom Hall back to back to back to.....(well you get what I'm saying), you can also go to the expo wing and every group/artist has a table set up. Believe me you are star struck when you walk through and see your favorite artists behind their tables greeting you, signing autographs and posing for pictures. They were all so friendly. One of the artists had just had a kidney transplant 3 weeks earlier (his wife whom also sings in the group donated hers to him) he performed on stage along with his wife and then both were present afterward at their table greeting fans. He wore a mask and gloves to protect him from germs but he said he wouldn't miss it for the world. That is dedication and caring my friend. I love Southern Gospel Music and I love the singers who put their heart into their "work". They sing to uplift our Lord and Saviour! What a testimony. I can't wait to go back next year!

An ATC for every month

Well I haven't finished the recipe cards as mentioned yesterday. I have the idea in my head...I just can't seem to get the mojo to sit down and do it. I did just get back a great ATC swap that I wanted to share with you all. In this swap we had to pick a month and make an ATC themed for that month. You may remember an earlier post where I posted the pic of my month's ATC. I did February. I love the swaps where you make one thing and you get a 'set' of something back. Those are my fav. I believe these are sooo cute! Thanks to Natalie for hostessing such a great swap on SCS.


My February card I used basic black, real red and pink pirouette c/s. Then I used the Love you Much stamp set from SU! to stamp the heart in real red ink on the pink c/s. I used Fundamental Phrases stamp set from SU! for the words (stamped with Craft White ink). A few brads, some paper flowers and ribbon....easy, easy.
Right now my favorite one of the set is October of course b/c Fall is my favorite season. I'm sure the next time I take them out and use one I'll have a brand new favorite. hee! hee!

We are Family

I've just finished up a Letter of the Word swap that I hosted and we did the Holidays. One of the words we did was Family. Everyone did Christmas themed letters. I thought the word turned out very cute!

The other words were equally as cute and darling but I just had the energy to upload this one. Yeah, it's been a loooooong day. I think the rain did strange things to our kids at school today. They're calling for more of the same the rest of the week! Yay :(

Going now to see if I can finish up some recipe cards for another swap I'm in. I'll try and get them uploaded this evening.

Happy Saturday!

I hope everyone is having a great weekend so far. My hubby is having to work this AM so, I'm getting a few swaps caught up and updating the ole blog. :)

I've seen cards and scrapbook pages with "split frames" in the gallery at SCS and I thought I would try it. I really like how it turned out.

I punched out 3 squares then butted them up against each other. I used Eastern blooms stamp set by SU! That cherry blossom branch stamp works great. You have to keep your fingers on the bottoms of each square when stamping so they won't get taken up when you lift the stamp. Someone at a workshop asked why I didn't just stamp the image then punch it out. Well, if you do that you run the risk of not getting all the image b/c then you'd have to butt the punch up exactly with the other one and I'm not that good. I used the Cricut to cut out the ovals for the setiment. I stamped one of the flower stamps from that same set then cut them out and put them on with dimentionals. I inked the edges with chocolate chip ink then finished the card with some chocolate chip ribbon. I love trying new techniques. I love finding new ways to use the things I already have. In this economy being creative is a really, really good thing! :)

Well, I'm off to try and finish 2 swaps before the day is over.

2nd Post of the Day and it's a doozy!

IT TOOK ME 3 1/2 HOURS TO MAKE!
IT'S A FIRST FOR ME!
IT'S THE CUTEST THING EVAH IF I DO SAY SO MYSELF!

Okay, okay...so, I went to a Stamp Camp at my Upline's house last night and we made an advent calender for Christmas. OMGoodness I'm soooo proud of myself. I've never done anything like this before. It measures 16" x 20"! It has little 2" round tins that I can put treats in for my kiddos....awwwwww! I know right?
We used Designer Series Paper by Stampin' Up! My Upline stamped all the letter and numbers for us...thanks Beth!!! :) We had such fun putting these together. It has ribbon tacked on the sides to hang by. I can't wait to put it up! I might just leave it out now hee! hee! My kids can't wait until there's goodies in the tins so they can pull them off (they're on with velcro) and eat them up!
Oh well, here's the pic. I hope you like it as much as I obviously do! :)

What do you think? Oh, it has really put me in the Christmas Spirit. Now where's that Elvis Christmas CD? (ha! ha! hee! hee! hee!)

This Girl can't do without...

HER PURSE!!! :)

I made this card for a stamp camp I hosted. The ladies that made this had a fit when they saw my example. They all loved it.

The "purses" are punched from the tab punch and stamped with totally tabs stamp set. Then punched the sentiment out with circle punches and a few to accent. The "handles" for the purses are linen thread, taped behind the purse.

I want to try and get one more post up this evening. It's of the advent calender I made last night. I'll try and be back after church!

ANOTHER LABOR DAY POST!

I JUST HAD TO POST THIS!

I've never used digital images. I love Dustin Pike's images and I just had to try some. Here is my first ever digital image card! I was sooo excited.



I used chocolate chip cardstock and some papers from a stack by Die Cuts with a View, this is the Fall pack. The sentiment is from some clear stamp sets I ordered from QVC (don't you just love that channel?!) I used bashful blue and chocolate chip ribbon.

Now, for another first for me...Bic Mark It Markers! I love 'em! Melanie (mnewby on SCS) had a post on her blog a couple weeks back and she was raving about these markers. So, I got them over the weekend and she was right. These are some great markers! I colored the image above with them. Of course, I'm not the best color"er" and really don't color in a lot of stamped images. I have lots and lots of solid images that you don't have to color so, I'm practicing. Be patience with me I hope to get better as I go along.
If you're wondering what these fabulous markers look like and how they're packaged so you can go get your own set...I've posted a pic of them. I got mine at Target.

LABOR DAY CRAFTING!!!

HAPPY LABOR DAY EVERYONE!

Yeah, even though it's Labor Day and we're not to "labor" today, I've already fixed brunch, washed dishes, cleaned the kitchen, read three storybooks and calmed histerical tears b/c my daughter's 102 Dalmations Movie ended (I started it again needless to say! ). Oh well, the day in the life of a mommy.
I did get a chance to finish up some bookmarks yesterday after church. These are for a swap I'm in on SCS. We had to make scripture bookmarks.

I used chocolate chip cardstock, Sweet Always paper & Pumpkin pie cardstock. I used a stamp from Verve for the scripture. Be sure and check out their mojo mondays blog for some great sketches. I have the link in my sidebar. I used a stamp from the SU! set Circle Circus for the 2 circle accents (I used chocolate chip and pumpkin pie inks on white cardstock). Then for the "tassel" I used brown grosgrain ribbon that I cut at an angle on each end then folded and stapled onto the top of the bookmark. Remember if you use staples on a bookmark to cover them with scotch tape on the back so the bookmark doesn't scratch your book pages.

A Southern Favorite

Hello everyone! It's Thursday...only one more working day and I can craft most of the day Saturday!!! Yippeee!

I just wanted to share a 6"x 6" recipe card I made for a swap I'm in on SCS. Our hostess wanted us to create some Southern Favorites. My mom's Chicken and Dressing is sooooo good and I thought, well I don't have her recipe but this one is very, very close.






I didn't notice until I had already put the cards together that one of my ingredients isn't lined up right. Oh well....
The patterned cardstock is from a stack by Die Cuts with a View and so is the little 2"x2" piece in the corner. I think the stack is called Nana's Kitchen. I finished it with a paper flower and neutral colored button. I'm on a flower and button kick right now. I love how the patterend cardstock shimmers.
I hope to get some scrapbook pages finished tonight. Hope I can get them uploaded tomorrow.

Fall is just around the corner

IT'S SEPTEMBER!!!

Hey ladies!! I hope everyone is having a good Tuesday.
I can hardly believe Fall is just around the corner.
Christmas is only 3 1/2 months away...WOW!
Well I have to say that Fall/Autumn is my FAVORITE time of the year. I love the colors. Earth tones are my favorites. When I have a SU! class, I always ask the ladies to turn to the color families of cardstock and tell me which family they're drawn too. Earth Elements has always been my favorite.
I made some Fall Borders for a swap that mnewby (Melanie) is hostessing on SCS. I like how they turned out.



I used chocolate chip, pumpkin pie, more mustard, & old olive cardstocks. The patterned paper is from a die cuts with a view stack. I picked up some 3D stickers from HobLob and made my little page accents. The journaling block is from a stamp set I picked up at Wal-Mart on clearance. I used linen thread on one of my accents and I finished off the borders with some paper/fabric flowers and buttons. Oh yeah and a small brad.

What do ya think? Don't it just scream Fall? hee! hee!
